The E-Accountability Foundation announces the

'A for Accountability' Award

to those who are willing to whistleblow unjust, misleading, or false actions and claims of the politico-educational complex in order to bring about educational reform in favor of children of all races, intellectual ability and economic status. They ask questions that need to be asked, such as "where is the money?" and "Why does it have to be this way?" and they never give up. These people have withstood adversity and have held those who seem not to believe in honesty, integrity and compassion accountable for their actions. The winners of our "A" work to expose wrong-doing not for themselves, but for others - total strangers - for the "Greater Good"of the community and, by their actions, exemplify courage and self-less passion. They are parent advocates. We salute you.

Winners of the "A":

Johnnie Mae Allen

National Gang Threat Assessment: We Must Get the Gangs and Bullies Out of Our Nation's Schools

Bringing The Community Together To Prevent Gangs And Crime

LINK

The East Coast Gang Investigators Association, Inc. (ECGIA) is proud to announce it's new program called GRIPE (Gang Reduction through Intervention, Prevention, and Education). ECGIA has been working to educate the communities and those entrusted to work with our youth about gangs. We should all realize that suppression alone would not win the war on gangs. It must be, we believe, a threefold effort to include Education, Prevention and Suppression.

ECGIA, a unique alliance of criminal justice professionals, is dedicated to the promotion and coordination of comprehensive anti-gang strategies throughout the northeast region of the country. We advocate the sharing of information and strategies, the standardization of anti-gang training and the establishment of uniform gang definitions. We also provide training to communities with emerging gang problems and have provided input to policy makers, program administrators, businesses and corporate security.

Gangs have been adversely affecting the quality of life within our communities through their violence, drug dealing and other criminal activities. The lack of quality information and the misinformation that is available to the public greatly increases the gangs ability to succeed in their criminal endeavors and to recruit our children into the gangster lifestyle.

Gang involvement begins as early as elementary school. Children 7 and 8 years of age are being recruited to work for the gangs because gangs are aware of the difference in the punishment for youths in the criminal justice system. Todays youth are drawn into the gang culture for a variety of reasons, a need to be accepted, to be popular, to interact with other peers, protection, family, etc.

In the year 2004, ECGIA's community mission is simple: shut down the gangs recruitment base, our children. We will achieve this by sharing our wealth of training with our communities and most of all our youth. We will be focusing our training on our children, community workers, teachers, clergy, parents and anyone who comes in contact with our youth. The East Coast Gang Investigators Association will be providing the law enforcement community with the best instructors in the gang discipline so that our members can go forth within their communities to teach and inform about the evils of gangs and how to recognize the first signs of gang involvement.
