The E-Accountability Foundation announces the

'A for Accountability' Award

to those who are willing to whistleblow unjust, misleading, or false actions and claims of the politico-educational complex in order to bring about educational reform in favor of children of all races, intellectual ability and economic status. They ask questions that need to be asked, such as "where is the money?" and "Why does it have to be this way?" and they never give up. These people have withstood adversity and have held those who seem not to believe in honesty, integrity and compassion accountable for their actions. The winners of our "A" work to expose wrong-doing not for themselves, but for others - total strangers - for the "Greater Good"of the community and, by their actions, exemplify courage and self-less passion. They are parent advocates. We salute you.

Winners of the "A":

Johnnie Mae Allen
David Possner
Dee Alpert
Aaron Carr
Harris Lirtzman
Hipolito Colon
Larry Fisher
The Giraffe Project and Giraffe Heroes' Program
Jimmy Kilpatrick and George Scott

ALERT FOR VIRGINIA RESIDENTS: Burden of Proof Legislation up for a Vote
Senator Patricia Ticer's bill - SB 241 - puts the Burden of Proof on the school division, not the parent. She needs all of the help we can muster to get this bill out of Committee.

Senators Patricia Ticer and Yvonne Miller need help in getting Virginia Senate legislation SB 241 passed!

Senator Ticer's bill puts the Burden of Proof on the school division, not the parent. She needs all of the help we can muster to get this bill out of Committee. The Senate Education Committee is tentatively scheduled to hear interested parties on this subject at their meeting on Thursday, January 26th at 9:00 a.m. in Senate Room B. Please let me know if I can offer any help to your members and Virginia residents to make their opinions known. The Senate Education Committee members are: Sen. Potts (Chairman, Winchester - District 27), Sen. Saslaw (Springfield District - 35), Sen. Lambert (Richmond - District 9), Sen. Houck, Sen. Lucas (Portsmouth), Sen. Howell (Spotsylvania - District 17), Sen. Quayle (Portsmouth/Chesapeake - District 13)), Sen. Martin (Chesterfield - District 11), Sen. Newman (Forest - District 23), Sen. Edwards (Roanoke - District 21), Sen. Ruff (Clarksville - District 15), Sen. Whipple*** (Arlington - District 31), Sen. Blevins (Chesapeake - District 14), Sen. Rerras (Norfolk, portions VA Beach, Eastern Shore - District 6), Sen. Bell (Roanoke - District 22).

Is it possible to send out a request to all Virginia and/or national members with an interest in this topic? Specifically, we need constituents to contact their legislators and, especially, Education Committee members. Please note that Sen. Whipple opposes this legislation. Several school divisions have called for the bill to be withdrawn and plan to have school representatives flood the Senate Committee meeting next Thursday. This is an important piece of legislation for those with disabilities and their families.

Specifically, we are looking for:

1) Parents who have been through a due process hearing on why it is important for the burden of proof to be on the schools.
2) Groups who represent people with disabilities - especially in the area of education.
3) Those groups/individuals who filed briefs in the recent supreme court case on the student's behalf.
4) Anyone else who can show support.

Please contact me immediately, if you are willing to testify as I am responsible for coordinating speakers. Also, please forward this on to other supporters who might be interested. Again, the school systems will be there in force to testify against it. We need supporters to step forward and help.

Senator Ticer's office is: (804) 698-7530 ***opposes
