The E-Accountability Foundation announces the

'A for Accountability' Award

to those who are willing to whistleblow unjust, misleading, or false actions and claims of the politico-educational complex in order to bring about educational reform in favor of children of all races, intellectual ability and economic status. They ask questions that need to be asked, such as "where is the money?" and "Why does it have to be this way?" and they never give up. These people have withstood adversity and have held those who seem not to believe in honesty, integrity and compassion accountable for their actions. The winners of our "A" work to expose wrong-doing not for themselves, but for others - total strangers - for the "Greater Good"of the community and, by their actions, exemplify courage and self-less passion. They are parent advocates. We salute you.

Winners of the "A":

Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein and Dell Inc. Chairman and CEO Michael S. Dell Announce Dell TechKnow Program
Wednesday April 28, 2:00 pm ET
New Technology Program Serving over 350 Students at 24 New York City Public Schools;

Participating Students Earn Home Computer Upon Completion of Program
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2004-- Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein and Dell Inc. (Nasdaq:DELL - News) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael S. Dell today announced the Dell TechKnow program, a new technology initiative that serves over 350 students at 24 public schools throughout New York City. The Department of Education (DOE) and Dell are working together to enroll more than 1,000 students in the program through the next academic year, making New York City the largest participant in the program to date. Chancellor Klein and Mr. Dell made the announcement at JHS 113 in Brooklyn.
"Access to technology is essential to the success of New York City's public school children," Chancellor Klein said. "We are working hard to provide our schools and students with increased and enhanced computer technology and this partnership truly bolsters our efforts. I thank Michael Dell and Dell Inc. for their commitment to public education and hope that others will follow their lead by getting involved with our City's public schools by volunteering, mentoring, or developing partnerships like the one we are announcing today."

"The New York Department of Education shares in Dell's commitment to ensure that today's students learn the 21st Century skills they need to be successful in the future," Mr. Dell said. "We'll work closely with the DOE to provide students with the tools they need to meet their technology goals."

Today's partnership complements the DOE's overall effort to ensure that all 1.1 million public school children students receive a quality education. This effort includes the commitment of more than $735 million of the proposed five-year capital plan for technology enhancements, such as a network upgrade to enable distance learning, school to school communications, increased use of the Internet, and the implementation of wireless technology over the next five years.

Dell TechKnow is a 40-hour after-school program that provides students -- primarily students in middle school in underserved communities -- with an opportunity to earn a home computer and learn technology skills upon completing the program. Dell and the DOE will provide participating schools with teacher training, computers, and administrative funding for the program. New York City is one of more than 20 school districts nationwide participating in Dell TechKnow. Since July 2001, more than 2,100 students across the United States have completed the program with more than 1,000 students in the Spring 2004 class.

About Dell TechKnow

Students in the Dell TechKnow program receive a free refurbished Dell(tm) desktop computer and work in teams to learn computer basics. Students learn how to take apart and re-build the computer, install software; upgrade, diagnose and fix basic hardware problems; and how to use the word processing and educational software. In addition, students must meet certain program requirements such as attending school, demonstrating good citizenship and sustaining or improving their grades. Upon completion of the course, students earn a refurbished Dell desktop computer, operating system and software to take home and one year of free Internet access.
